Project Title: "Advocacy Meetings in European Countries to Debunk Russian Propaganda and Disinformation"
Short Title: "BreakTheFake"
Implemented by: NGO "Platform for Development Projects “Priority”
The project is funded by the International Renaissance Foundation
From May to December 2024, the project organizers, in cooperation with the Embassies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, conducted a series of meetings involving Ukrainian prisoners of war and representatives of fact-checking organizations with media representatives, the diplomatic corps, ministers, scientists, and other opinion leaders in seven EU countries. As a result, dozens of events and informational materials were published in major media outlets of countries such as Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Switzerland, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, and others.
The project aims to raise international awareness of the consequences of disinformation campaigns by the Russian Federation and the crimes committed against prisoners of war and other Ukrainians. This is achieved through public events where victims (or researchers) personally share their stories with journalists, diplomats, and public representatives, contributing to the formation of a realistic picture of Russia and countering its propaganda.
